§ 18. Expert witnesses--Documentation of justification
The Corporation Commission is authorized to employ expert witnesses to prepare and present testimony in matters pending before the Commission or in matters concerning the Commission pending in other state or federal forums. The selection and compensation of expert witnesses by the Corporation Commission shall be exempt from the Oklahoma Central Purchasing Act.1 For expert witnesses selected pursuant to this section, the Commission shall document, in writing, the justification for choosing the person selected. The justification shall include the number of expert witnesses considered and the cost to the state. Such documentation shall be available for public inspection and maintained for a period of not less than five (5) years.
