§ 1-229.3. Tobacco Use Reduction Fund
A. There is hereby created in the State Treasury a revolving fund for the State Department of Health to be designated the “Tobacco Use Reduction Fund”. The fund shall be a continuing fund, not subject to fiscal year limitations, and shall consist of all monies appropriated thereto by the Legislature, any other funds that may be directed thereto by the Board of Directors of the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust Fund, and all other monies including gifts, grants and other funds that may be directed thereto. All monies accruing to the credit of said fund are hereby appropriated and may be budgeted and expended by the Department for the purpose of the State Plan for Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation and for other purposes specifically authorized by this act.1 Expenditures from said fund shall be made upon warrants issued by the State Treasurer against claims filed as prescribed by law with the Director of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services for approval and payment.
B. The fund shall be administered by the State Department of Health.
C. Monies from the fund shall not be used to engage in any political activities or lobbying, including, but not limited to, support of or opposition to candidates, ballot initiatives, referenda or other similar activities.
