Rule 31. Cameras Prohibited
To insure an appropriate atmosphere prevails in the Courthouses within the Twenty-third Judicial District and to guarantee all litigants may obtain a fair trial and that the courts work within the Courthouse continue unhindered in the administration of justice, the Court adopts the following restrictions on camera's in the Courthouse;
1. A. There shall be no cameras, video, digital or still allowed in the Courthouse, except for ceremonial purposes. Cell phones with camera functions may not be used in the Courthouse.
B. No media interview shall take place in the vicinity of any Courtroom, nor shall an interview interfere with the operations of the Courts and should not be in a location frequented by jurors or witnesses.
C. Media personnel have the same obligation as others to make sure that there is no discussion of any case or opinion expressed that might be overheard by jurors or witnesses.
2. All persons attending any hearing in any cause before the courts are reminded of the Oklahoma District Court Rules, North Central Judicial Administrative District for the 23rd Judicial District. Specifically, all persons shall take notice of:
A. Rule 1.8(2) Any activity in or near the courtroom which disrupts or disturbs the proceedings is prohibited.
B. Rule 1.8(3) The wearing of buttons, badges, banners, or clothing which expresses some point of view or identifies the person as associated with some cognizable group is prohibited in the courtroom, with the exception of religious vestments, except as specifically allowed by statute.
C. Any person disrupting the courthouse activities or displaying any prohibited buttons, badges, banners, or clothing will be removed from the courthouse.
3. This rule shall not prohibit any person attending a public meeting in the Courthouse pursuant to 25 O.S. Section 312 (The Open Meeting Act) from bringing a camera into the Courthouse for the purpose of recording the proceedings of the public meeting.
