Net Metering
PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE State Administrative Procedure Act, NOTICE is hereby given of the following proposed rule:
Proposed Action:
The Commission is considering a proposed filing by the Village of Freeport to make various changes in the rates, charges, rules and regulations contained in its Schedule for Electric Service, P.S.C. No. 9—Electricity.
Statutory authority:
Public Service Law, section 66(12)
Subject:
Net Metering.
Purpose:
To establish net metering provisions for customers who own or operate solar or wind electric generating equipment.
Substance of proposed rule:
The Commission is considering a proposal filed by the Village of Freeport (Freeport) to establish net metering provisions for customers of Service Classification No. 1 – Residential Service and Service Classification No. 2 – General Service who own or operate solar or wind electric generating equipment. The proposed amendments have an effective date of November 1, 2011. The Commission may adopt in whole or in part, modify or reject Freeport’s proposal, and may apply its decision to other utilities.
