Establishment of a New RPS Goal
PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE State Administrative Procedure Act, NOTICE is hereby given of the following action:
Action taken:
On 12/16/09, the PSC adopted an order establishing a new Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) goal and resolving Main Tier issues.
Statutory authority:
Public Service Law, sections 4(1), 5(2), 66(1) and (2)
Subject:
Establishment of a new RPS goal.
Purpose:
To establish a new RPS goal.
Substance of final rule:
The Commission, on December 16, 2009, adopted an order establishing a new Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) goal and MWh target and resolving several issues related to the RPS program, with a primary focus on the Main Tier. The order also authorizes an additional Main Tier solicitation of $200 million, consistent with the results of a recent solicitation and the MWh trajectory needed to meet the revised goal, subject to the terms and conditions set forth in the order.
