Summer Institutes for Teachers of Mathematics and Science in Grades Five through Eight
Funds in the amount of $5 million are available for grants to New York State colleges and universities offering teacher education programs in partnership with public school districts to provide college-based summer institutes for teachers responsible for providing instruction of the intermediate portion of the New York State Learning Standards in Mathematics (revised 2005) and Science, grades five through eight. The grants must be used to pay the costs of teachers of mathematics and science attending the summer institutes. The summer institutes must be designed to align to New York State learning standards, improve the participating teachers professional content knowledge and pedagogy, and enhance their competencies in the use and application of technologies for improved student achievement in the areas of mathematics and science.

Protection and Advocacy for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PADD) Program
As the administering agency for the PADD program, CQCAPD is announcing the availability of federal funding to establish five-year contracts for the period July 1, 2008 — June 30, 2013 with not-for-profit organizations to provide program services in nine regions throughout New York State.
Program Summary: Pursuant to funding made available through the Federal Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, as amended, CQCAPD is announcing the availability of funding to establish nine contracts with eligible agencies in the New York City-Outreach, New York City-Legal, Upper Hudson, Lower Hudson, North Country, Long Island, Central/Southern Tier, Western-Outreach, and Western-Legal regions of New York State to provide culturally competent, legal and/or non-legal individual advocacy, information and referral, technical assistance, and advocacy training and networking for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Requirements: Grantee must be a not-for-profit organization, independent of any agency that provides treatment or habilitation services to persons with disabilities. Grantee must have the capacity and expertise to effectively advocate on behalf of eligible individuals.
It is anticipated that a total of approximately $1,156,100 will be available during the first one-year contract period of July 1, 2008 — June 30, 2009. Funding amounts for years two-five of the five-year term will be subject to the availability of federal program funds.
A Request for Proposals (RFP) is expected to be released on January 16, 2008. Due date for receipt of proposals is February 27, 2008. Subcontracting will not be allowed without the express written approval of CQCAPD.
