Part I. General Instructions
WPIC CHAPTER 2. Definitions
WPIC 2.00 Introduction
This chapter gathers instructions for statutory definitions that apply to a relatively broad range of crimes. Many of these instructions are based on the generally applicable statutory definitions contained in RCW 9A.04.110.
For instructions on statutory definitions that apply more specifically to particular crimes or families of crimes, see the chapters in Volumes 11 and 11A Washington Practice, Washington Pattern Jury Instructions: Criminal (5th ed.) that address the particular area. For example, statutory definitions relating specifically to theft are included with the theft instructions. See WPIC Chapter 79 (Theft—Definitions).
The WPI Committee has not attempted to draft instructions for every statutory definition. The instructions in this chapter may be used as a guide for drafting other definitional instructions.
