WPIC 89.00 Introduction

The instructions in this section cover only a few of the major driving offenses from RCW Title 46. These are the most common situations in which pattern instructions will be the most helpful. No effort has been made to cover the many driving offenses that are set out in individual statutes in RCW Title 46. Usually an instruction for one of those driving offenses can be taken directly from the statute and set up in the form of the pattern instructions in this volume.

The user is cautioned that the instructions in this section are intended to fit only the state statutes in RCW Title 46. Some of these same offenses are covered by local ordinances. If a local traffic ordinance is involved, instructions based on state law might not be appropriate. Consult the local ordinance and use the format of these pattern instructions.
