WPIC 50.73 State Correctional Facility—Definition
“State correctional facility” means a facility or institution operated directly or by contract by the Secretary of the Washington State Department of Corrections for the purpose of incarcerating adults in total or partial confinement.
Use this instruction, as applicable, with WPIC 50.71 (Enhanced Sentence—County Jail or State Correctional Facility—Special Verdict).

The Legislature did not define the phrase “state correctional facility” in RCW Chapter 9.94A. This definition is based upon the definitions of “correctional facility” and “department” found in RCW Chapter 72.09.
