§ 611. Prothonotaries to collect tax on writs, etc.
The prothonotaries of the several courts of common pleas shall continue to be the agents of the Commonwealth for the collection of the tax on original writs, on entries of amicable actions, on writs of certiorari, on entries of judgment by confession or otherwise, and on transcript of judgments of justices of the peace1 or aldermen, and shall be the agents of the Commonwealth for the collection of the tax on the filing of complaints by which an action is started as provided by law, but they shall make their returns to the Department of Revenue, and pay the amounts collected to the State Treasurer, through the Department of Revenue, as provided in this act.
