§ 4244. Officers receiving state taxes to make monthly returns

All borough, city, county or state officers authorized to collect or receive taxes or license fees for the Commonwealth, shall make return of the same on the first of every month, and within ten days thereafter pay the amount mentioned in said return into the state treasury; and further, it shall be the duty of the state treasurer to immediately notify the attorney general of any failure upon the part of any official to account as aforesaid.
