§ 390.715. Multicounty regional prison facilities
(a) Authorization to counties.--Any county or counties or any county authority created pursuant to the act of May 2, 1945 (P.L. 382, No. 164), known as the Municipality Authorities Act of 1945,1 are authorized to acquire, hold, construct, finance, improve, maintain, operate, own or lease, either in the capacity of lessor or lessee, any county or multicounty regional prison facility for the purpose of incarcerating their own inmates and inmates of other counties. A county or multicounty regional prison facility may also house Commonwealth inmates.
(b) Prison services contracts.--The Commonwealth and any county may enter into contracts with any county or multicounty regional prison facility authorized under subsection (a) for the incarceration of State or county inmates and all services necessary, appropriate or incident to the housing and care of such inmates.
