§ 22229. Special election to fill vacancy in council
In the event of any vacancy occurring in said council by death, resignation or otherwise, the same shall be filled by an election, at which every member of council and the mayor shall have one vote; and the person receiving the majority of all votes cast shall be declared elected to serve, in place of the member so dying, resigning, or otherwise vacating his position as member of council, until the first Monday of January following the next general municipal election at which his successor could be chosen, in accordance with the provisions of law governing municipal elections and as provided in section two1 herein.
