§ 23. Violation of act a misdemeanor; fine and penalty
Any person hawking, peddling or selling goods, wares or merchandise, without obtaining the license aforesaid and in violation of this act, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor; and upon conviction thereof in the court of quarter sessions of the peace, in and for the respective counties, shall be sentenced to a fine of not less than one hundred dollars, nor more than five hundred dollars, or to imprisonment in the county jail of the proper county for a period of not less than three months nor more than one year, or both, or either, at the discretion of the court.
