§ 670-604. Approach roads to national cemeteries; national military parks, etc.
The secretary in his discretion is hereby authorized to accept on behalf of the Commonwealth any conveyance from the Secretary of War by quitclaim deed of any government owned or controlled approach road to any national cemetery or national military park or any other road ceded by the Commonwealth to the United States of America under the act, approved the twenty-sixth day of June, one thousand eight hundred ninety-five (Pamphlet Laws, three hundred seventy-one), entitled “An act to cede jurisdiction to the United States over certain public roads within the National Park at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.”1
Any such section of road so conveyed by the Secretary of War and accepted by the secretary which is a part of or forms a continuation of a State highway route shall be a State highway and shall be constructed, reconstructed, and maintained as such.
Any such section of road so conveyed by the Secretary of War and accepted by the secretary which is not a State highway or a continuance of a State highway shall revert to the status it occupied as a county or township road or borough street at the time it was ceded to the United States of America, and the proper county or municipal authorities, upon receipt of notice in writing from the secretary that such section of road has been conveyed to this State and accepted as aforesaid, shall be responsible for the construction, reconstruction, and maintenance of those sections of said roads which lie within their respective counties or municipalities.
