§ 15-1502-I. Definitions
The following words and phrases when used in this article shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:
“Department.” The Department of Education of the Commonwealth.
“Hybrid learning.” An instructional strategy that blends digital resources with classroom teaching. The term shall not include instruction through a distance education program.
“Nonpublic school.” A nonprofit school in which a resident of this Commonwealth may legally fulfill the compulsory school attendance requirements of this act and which meets the requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Public Law 88-352, 78 Stat. 241).1 The term shall not include a public school located within this Commonwealth.
“Program.” The E-chievement Program established under this article.
“School entity.” Any of the following:
(1) A school district.
(2) An intermediate unit.
(3) An area career and technical school.
(4) A charter school or regional charter school, as defined in section 1703-A.2
“State assessment.” Any of the following:
(3) A test, except a test listed under paragraph (1) or (2), established or approved by the State Board of Education or General Assembly to meet the requirements of section 2603-B(d)(10)(i),3 and required under the Every Student Succeeds Act (Public Law 114-95, 129 Stat. 1802)4 or its successor statute.
