§ 40.3. Designation of “Pennsylvania POW/MIA Recognition Day”
In recognition of the fact that the number of American POW/MIA's still missing and unaccounted for in Southeast Asia is 2,282 (116 Pennsylvanians), in the Korean War, 8,100, in World War II, 78,000, and in the Persian Gulf War, 9, and whose bravery, patriotism and courage will never be forgotten by their loved ones and their grateful Nation and Commonwealth, the third Friday of September of each year is hereby designated “Pennsylvania POW/MIA Recognition Day.”
The Governor shall issue a proclamation every third Friday of September, in perpetuity, to commemorate the sacrifices and patriotism of our Pennsylvania POW/MIA's and to observe that day with appropriate honors and ceremonies.
