§ 40.7. Designation of “Earth Day”
In recognition of “Earth Day,” which was first celebrated on April 22, 1970, and has since been celebrated annually by people from around the world to demonstrate a collective concern for the environment, April 22 of each year is hereby designated “Earth Day” in Pennsylvania. The Governor is authorized and directed to issue a proclamation each year calling upon the citizens of this Commonwealth to participate in events and activities to help protect and improve the environmental quality of Pennsylvania and the planet.
