§ 40.2. Designation of Rachel Carson Day
In recognition of Rachel Carson, who was born on May 27, 1907, and who is generally recognized as the “Mother of the Age of Ecology,” May 27 of each year is hereby designated “Rachel Carson Day” and is set aside to commemorate the birth of Rachel Carson. The Governor is authorized and directed to issue a proclamation each year calling upon the people of this Commonwealth to commemorate the life and contributions of Rachel Carson and to observe that day with appropriate honors and ceremonies.
