EXPRESSING GRATITUDE TO SENATOR MARTY QUINN FOR HIS SERVICE IN THE OKLAHOMA STATE SENATE
A Resolution expressing gratitude to Senator Marty Quinn for his service in the Oklahoma State Senate; and directing distribution.
WHEREAS, Senator Marty Quinn is completing his 12th year of service to the State of Oklahoma as a member of the Oklahoma State Legislature; and
WHEREAS, first elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives, Senator Quinn served the citizens of House District 9 for four years before his election to serve Senate District 2 in 2014, fulfilling the remainder of his 12–year service in the Legislature; and
WHEREAS, during his eight-year tenure in the Senate, Senator Quinn has served as the chairman and vice-chairman of the Retirement and Insurance Committee. He was elected Senate Assistant Majority Floor Leader and Assistant Majority Whip in 2018 and has also sat on the Natural Resources and Regulatory Services, Education, and Energy Committees. Senator Quinn was also appointed to the Joint Legislative Task Force on the Grand River Dam Authority in 2016; and
WHEREAS, a native of Arkansas, one of Senator Quinn's favorite past times is to call the hogs, although he does root for the Oklahoma State Cowboys as well; and
WHEREAS, after attending Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, he began his 40–year career with Shelter Insurance, serving as a regional manager for Oklahoma and Arkansas before moving to Green Country and opening his own agency; and
WHEREAS, State Question No. 632, adopted September 19, 1990, and effective January 1, 1991, limits the length of service for a member of the Legislature to a total of 12 years. As a result, Senator Quinn will not be eligible to stand for reelection this year; and
WHEREAS, Senator Quinn will be remembered for his insurance expertise and knowledge as well as his passion for education, always fighting to ensure all Oklahoma children have the opportunity to succeed in the classroom. He will also be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and dry sense of humor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE 2ND SESSION OF THE 58TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
THAT the Oklahoma State Senate, on behalf of the citizens of Senate District 2 and all citizens of this state, expresses its gratitude to Senator Marty Quinn for his service in the Oklahoma State Senate.
THAT a copy of this resolution be distributed to Senator Marty Quinn.
