WHEREAS, agriculture is one of Oklahoma's leading industries and its associated production, processing, and marketing segments together provide a major source of employment for the state's workforce; and

WHEREAS, agriculture serves all Oklahomans, Americans, and others around the world by providing food, fiber, and other basic necessities of life; and

WHEREAS, the performance of the agriculture economy is vital to maintaining the strength of our state economy, the standard of living for our citizens, and our presence in world trade markets; and

WHEREAS, it is important that all Oklahomans understand the role agriculture plays in their lives and well-being, whether they live in urban or rural areas.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE 2ND SESSION OF THE 58TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:

THAT the Oklahoma State Senate hereby proclaims Thursday, March 24, 2022, as Oklahoma Agriculture Day.

THAT the Oklahoma State Senate will continue working with the state's farmers, ranchers, and agricultural organizations to recognize and support the agriculture industry.

THAT a copy of this resolution be distributed to the Oklahoma Secretary and Commissioner of Agriculture.
