DEFINITIONS AND GENERAL PROVISIONS
An Act relating to definitions and general provisions; making designation for Space Day; providing for codification; and declaring an emergency.
SUBJECT: Definitions and general provisions
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 90.28 of Title 25, unless there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:

September 17 of each year is hereby designated as “Space Day”, in honor of the birthday of Thomas P. Stafford, retired Lieutenant General, United States Air Force, and native Oklahoman, and to bring awareness regarding human achievements related to the study of space and its exploration, including but not limited to travel to and from the moon, the use of probes to learn more about our solar system, planets, asteroids and other celestial objects, the possibility of travel to and from planets in our solar system and the value of space exploration with its associated impact on science and technology.
SECTION 2. It being immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
