ADVOCATING FOR AMENDING THE OKLAHOMA CONSTITUTION TO REQUIRE PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP FOR VOTER REGISTRATION
A Resolution advocating for amending the Oklahoma Constitution to require proof of citizenship for voter registration.
WHEREAS, the House of Representatives recognizes the importance of protecting the integrity of the electoral process; and
WHEREAS, ensuring that only eligible citizens exercise their right to vote is fundamental to maintaining the integrity of elections; and
WHEREAS, the current provisions of the Oklahoma Constitution do not explicitly require proof of citizenship for voter registration; and
WHEREAS, requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration aligns with the principles of fair and transparent elections; and
WHEREAS, numerous other states have already implemented similar requirements to safeguard the electoral process;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2ND SESSION OF THE 59TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
THAT the House of Representatives supports amending the Oklahoma Constitution to require proof of citizenship as a prerequisite for voter registration.
