TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR BREAST CANCER
A Resolution to raise awareness for breast cancer; and designating March 5, 2024, as Susan G. Komen Advocacy Day.
WHEREAS, in Oklahoma, more than 3,490 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2024 and more than 570 people will die of the disease; and
WHEREAS, more than 4 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S., those living with the disease and the people who love them can attest to the urgent need of access to timely, affordable health care—including genetic testing, screening, diagnosis and treatment; and
WHEREAS, Susan G. Komen's vision is a world without breast cancer; and
WHEREAS, Susan G. Komen's mission is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer; and
WHEREAS, Susan G. Komen honors the life and legacy of the Honorable Eileen Echols annually through the Honorable Eileen Echols Inspire Award at the Oklahoma City Pink Tie Ball, to be held this year on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2ND SESSION OF THE 59TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives proclaims Tuesday, March 5, 2024, be Susan G. Komen Advocacy Day.
Adopted by the House of Representatives the 5th day of March, 2024.
