Health and Human Services for LGBT Individuals and Families
The New York State Department of Health (DOH) is issuing a Request for Applications (RFA) for the Health and Human Services for LGBT Individuals and Families (LGBT) program. This initiative will fund non-HIV services in communities throughout the state. The goal of the initiative is to develop and provide accessible and appropriate services that are responsive to the needs of the LGBT population, their families and support systems. A range of services may be funded under this initiative. Preference will be given to organizations that have a strong history of service provision to these communities as well as organizations with representatives of LGBT communities on their Board and staff.
Applicants must demonstrate a primary commitment, expertise, and ability to serve LGBT individuals, their families, and support systems. They must prove capable of providing direct, prevention, education, and training services to local communities and organizations.
Applications will be accepted through March 20, 2009 for approximately $568,185 in contracts with not-for-profit organizations to provide health and human services information and access to LGBT individuals. Applicants may apply for $56,818.

Occupational Safety & Health Training and Education Program (OSH T&E)
The Hazard Abatement Board announces the availability of funds for the development and implementation of programs promoting occupational safety and health in the workplace through training, education, and other proven preventative programs. Total available funds anticipated for programs under Article 29 of the NYS Labor Law will be approximately $6.5 million. Applicants may apply for any portion thereof. Grants awarded will be based on the number of quality programs approved and the availability of funds. Request for Proposals are available as of January 21, 2009. Request for Proposals may be obtained at our internet site www.labor.state.ny.us/hab or by contacting our office at (518) 457-7629.
Eligible applicants are: public and private employers; labor organizations or their federations; trade associations; non-profit organizations and educational institutions. Employers must employ one or more persons (beyond self-employment). Minority business subcontracting goal: 4% Women-owned business subcontracting goal: 2.5%
Your response to the 2009 RFP must be received by the HAB staff not later than 5:00 p.m., New York time on March 13, 2009 or be postmarked by such date in accordance with the proposal submittal instructions set forth in the RFP. No consideration will be given to grant applications that fail to meet this submittal deadline.
