In F-2006-1011, The New York City Department of Transportation Division of Bridges, 2 Rector Street, 8th Floor, New York City, NY, 10006, is proposing the replacement of the Mill Basin Bridge. The proposed 17-span high-level fixed bridge would replace the existing bascule bridge. The new bridge would provide a 60-foot minimum vertical clearance over the MHW elevation, and a 131-foot-wide horizontal navigation channel. The new bridge and the centerline of Belt Parkway would be relocated approximately 115 feet north of the existing alignment. The new bridge would carry three 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, 12-foot outside shoulders, and a 12-foot wide pedestrian/bicycle path on the eastbound side. The proposed bridge would provide inside shoulders that are 12 feet and the existing approach roadway would be widened to accommodate three 12-foot travel lanes. A 4-foot inside shoulder, a 10-foot outside shoulder, and a 12-foot grass shoulder would be placed in each direction. The bridge and approach roadway profiles would be raised to accommodate the 60-foot minimum vertical clearance over the MHW elevation. The stated purpose of the proposed activity is to remediate structural deficiencies of the bridge while accommodating standard travel lanes, roadway shoulders, and improved safety conditions. The Mill Basin Bridge is located in the City of New York, Borough of Brooklyn, on the Belt Parkway about 1 mile east of the Flatbush Avenue intersection.
Any interested parties and/or agencies desiring to express their views concerning the above proposed activity may do so by filing their comments, in writing, no later than 4:30 p.m., 30 days from the date of publication of this notice, or, February 16, 2007.
