15 CRR-NY 41.1
41.1 Service brake standard.
The service brakes on every motor vehicle and every combination of motor vehicle and trailer, operated on a public highway under any condition of loading, shall be capable of stopping the vehicle or combination by reducing its speed at a rate sufficient to bring it to a stop from the speed of 20 miles per hour on a hard, dry, approximately level pavement, substantially free from loose material within the distances specified below:
(a) Brakes which can be applied to every wheel, 30 feet.
(b) Brakes which cannot be applied to every wheel, 45 feet.
