1501.3 Fire detecting devices.
(a) New fire detecting systems shall be provided with fire detecting devices designed to operate on one or both of the following principles:
(1) Fixed temperature.
(2) Rate-of-rise.
(b) Fire detecting devices are classified into the following types:
(1) Spot devices in which thermostats are provided at specific locations.
(2) Continuous line devices such as fire detecting wire or pneumatic tubing, in which the thermal sensitive element is continuous.
