If the appellant elects to reply to the answer of the respondent, such reply shall be served and filed not later than five days after the date of service of the answer. If the answer was served by mail, the date of the mailing and the two days subsequent thereto shall be excluded in computing the five-day period. The appellant may attach to his reply such supporting affidavits, memoranda or other papers as he considers pertinent to his reply.
