64.2 Regulations.
(a) Public fishing access to Deep Pond is permitted during the period September 15th to June 15th from sunrise to sunset Monday through Thursday and sunrise to 3 p.m. on Fridays. Entry to Deep Pond is permitted for the purpose of fishing only. Access to Deep Pond for any other purpose (such as hiking, biking or picnicking) or at any other time without written permission from the Theodore Roosevelt Council, BSA is strictly prohibited.
(b) Fishing access is permitted only to holders of a valid New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) State Land Access Permit. Permits are valid for three years from the date of issuance and are available in person or by mail from the NYSDEC Sporting License Office, SUNY Building 40, Stony Brook, NY 11790-2356. For permit applicants 16 years of age or older, a photocopy of a valid NYS fishing license or sportsman license must accompany each permit application. Anglers under the age of 16 are exempt from this requirement.
(c) Parking is limited to five vehicles (boat trailers are not permitted) at the designated parking area adjacent to the main gate of the camp. Parking in any other location within the camp's grounds is strictly prohibited. A copy of the State Lands Access Permit must be visible on the dashboard of any vehicle parked in the designated parking area. It is a violation for any person to park a vehicle for any purpose other than fishing.
(d) All Anglers must sign in and out at the angler sign-in station prior to and after fishing.
(e) Access is limited to Deep Pond, its immediate shoreline and the access path from the main gate to the pond. Entry into buildings, facilities and areas of the camp beyond the designated access path to the pond and the pond shore, on steep bluffs, critical erosion areas, within the camp swimming area, or other restricted areas is strictly prohibited. Access is by foot only. No bicycles or ATVs are permitted on the camp grounds.
(f) Boats are permitted on Deep Pond. Boats must be hand-carried from the parking area to the pond. No gas operated motors or other gas powered devices such as ice augers are permitted at any time. Electric motors are permitted.
(g) No alcoholic beverages, controlled substances or firearms (including airguns) are permitted.
(h) No pets or livestock are permitted on the area at any time.
(i) It is a violation for any person to kindle, build, maintain or use a fire.
(j) It is a violation for any person to operate any musical instrument, radio, television set, phonograph or tape recorder, or make any excessive or unnecessary noise in any other manner.
(k) It is a violation for any person to injure, deface, disturb or befoul any part of an area or any building, sign, equipment or other property found thereon, nor shall any tree, flower, fern, shrub, rock, or other plant or mineral be removed, injured or destroyed.
(l) It is a violation for any person to dispose of any garbage, sewage, metal or glass containers, refuse, waste, fruit, vegetables, foodstuffs, paper, or other litter or obnoxious material, except in receptacles when such receptacles are provided for such purpose.
(m) It is a violation for any person to use threatening, abusive or insulting language; do any obscene or indecent act; throw stones or other missiles; interfere with, incumber, obstruct or render dangerous any drive, path, dock, beach or public place; do any act tending to or amounting to a breach of the peace; enter or leave except at established entrances or exits; engage in, instigate, aid or encourage an argument or fight, or assault any person.
(n) It is a violation for any person to at any time fail to comply with the reasonable demand or directions of any authorized person, indicated by gesture or otherwise, in using access roads, parking areas or launching sites, or fail to comply with directions or signs.
(o) The department reserves the right to refuse to issue a permit to anyone, or to revoke any permit and to immediately eject the holder from the area for disorderly conduct, intoxication, or any other behavior which endangers the general safety or persons or property, failure to comply with regulatory signs posted by the department; or any other violations of the regulations established for this area or of the Environmental Conservation Law.
