RULE 16-102. CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is the administrative head of the Maryland judicial system and has overall responsibility for the administration of the courts of this State. In the execution of that responsibility, the Chief Justice:
(a) may exercise the authority granted by the Maryland Constitution, the Maryland Code, the Maryland Rules, or other law;
(b) shall appoint a State Court Administrator to serve at the pleasure of the Chief Justice;
(c) may delegate administrative duties to other persons within the judicial system, including senior judges recalled pursuant to Code, Courts Article, ยง 1-302; and
(d) may assign judges pursuant to Rule 16-108 (b).
