§ 1660.1. Claimed Horse Health Record.

Currentness

(a) Upon a horse being claimed in a claiming race, the Claimed Horse Health Record form CHRB-245 (New 12/19), which is hereby incorporated by reference, shall be provided by the Official Veterinarian, or his or her designee, to the horse's previous CHRB-licensed attending veterinarian. The Official Veterinarian, or his or her designee, shall complete the top section of the form.

(b) The horse's previous CHRB-licensed attending veterinarian shall complete all applicable sections of the Claimed Horse Health Record form CHRB-245 (New 12/19) and submit the form electronically to the horse's new CHRB-licensed attending veterinarian, as identified by the horse's owner or trainer, within five (5) days of the claim.

(1) All intra-articular injections given to the horse by the previous CHRB-licensed attending veterinarian within sixty (60) calendar days prior to the race in which in the horse was claimed shall be reported on the Claimed Horse Health Record form CHRB-245 (New 12/19).

(2) The previous CHRB-licensed attending veterinarian shall complete all other applicable horse health record information on the Claimed Horse Health Record form CHRB-245 (New 12/19) that occurred while under his or her care.

(c) CHRB licensed veterinarians attending a horse for the first time after it is claimed shall review the Claimed Horse Health Record form CHRB-245 (New 12/19) prior to performing any intra-articular injections, any other intra-lesional musculoskeletal corticosteroid treatments, or extracorporeal shock wave therapy to the horse.

(1) In the event of a medical emergency or medical necessity, corticosteroid treatment may be initiated prior to review of the Claimed Horse Health Record form CHRB-245 (New 12/19), after which the horse shall be placed on the Veterinarian's List for a minimum of fourteen (14) days.

(d) The Claimed Horse Health Record form CHRB-245 (New 12/19) shall be confidential except as provided by any federal or state law or regulation.
