§ 29.00. Driver Record Checks for Commercial Driver License Applicants.
(a) The department shall conduct a check of the Commercial Driver License Information System and National Driver Registry records on all commercial driver license applicants to determine licensing eligibility as required by Vehicle Code sections 12805, 12807, 12808, 12809 and 15250.
(1) The Problem Driver Pointer System will be used to complete the check of the National Driver Registry records.
(b) For an original or renewal application for a commercial driver license in California, the department shall inquire through the Commercial Driver License Information System and Problem Driver Pointer System to collect driver information from all prior state licensing jurisdictions declared by the applicant on the driver license application.
(c) Upon inquiry by another state jurisdiction about a commercial driver, the department shall release the information concerning traffic accidents, convictions of traffic violations, and withdrawals of the driving privilege on the driver record within 10 days of the inquiry.
