§ 755. Definitions.
(a) As used in this article:
(1) “Accredited Veterinarian” means a veterinarian approved by the USDA in accordance with 9 CFR, Part 161 (2015) to perform functions specified in this article.
(2) “Certificate of Veterinary Inspection” means an official numbered document issued and signed by a USDA accredited and state-licensed veterinarian in the state of origin certifying the inspection of animals in preparation for interstate and intrastate movements. The requirements of a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection used for moving livestock into, within and from California shall be in accordance with Title 3, California Code of Regulations, section 830.3.
(3) “Department” means the California Department of Food and Agriculture.
(4) “Interstate Livestock Entry Permit” means a numbered document issued by the Department for approving the movement of animals that meet entry requirements into California. The requirements of an Interstate Livestock Entry Permit used for moving livestock into California shall be in accordance with Title 3, California Code of Regulations, section 830.4.
(5) “Livestock” means cattle, bison, horses and other equine species, poultry, sheep, goats, swine, and captive cervids.
(6) “Official brucellosis test” means a test to determine the brucellosis disease status of test-eligible cattle as defined by 9 CFR, Part 78, section 78.1.1 (2015).
(7) “Official tuberculosis test” is synonymous with “Official tuberculin test” as defined in 9 CFR, Part 77, section 77.5 (2015).
(8) “Person” means any individual, corporation, company, association, firm, partnership, society, or joint stock company, or other legal entity.
(9) “USDA” means the United States Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Veterinary Services.
