The Department approves of the use of mid-infrared instruments that rapidly determine the percentages of the fat, protein, lactose and solids content of milk as outlined in the 17^th Edition of Standard Methods for the Examination of Dairy Products, which is incorporated by reference, including all precalibration testing requirements and routine instrument performance checks, when such findings form the basis for payment for raw milk.
