§ 1012. Conditions for Continuing Employment.
(a) Every full-time peace officer employed by a participating department shall be required to serve in a probationary status for not less than 12 months from the date appointed to a full-time peace officer position.
(b) In order to exercise peace officer powers, any individual appointed to a peace officer position pursuant to Penal Code Section 830.1(a) who is not yet eligible for a Basic Certificate, shall obtain a Proof of Eligibility (POE) pursuant to Penal Code Section 13510.1.
(1) The POE shall remain valid until such time as the individual separates from the employing agency or becomes eligible for and obtains a Basic Certificate.
(c) In order to continue to exercise peace officer powers, any individual appointed to a full-time peace officer position pursuant to Penal Code Section 830.1(a) must obtain a Basic Certificate as set forth in Penal Code Section 832.4.
