159.00.1-8.8. Community Service Program
The Board of Corrections is vested with the authority to promulgate this administrative rule by Ark. Code Ann. Sections 12-27-105, 16-93-1203, and 16-93-1205.
It is the policy of the Arkansas Community Correction (ACC) to operate community service programs which administer sanctions appropriate to the seriousness of offenses/violations, hold offenders accountable for violations of release conditions, increase offenders' employment skills through community service work, provide for community involvement in the corrections process, thus, increasing the community resource availability to assist in interrupting the crime cycle.
Community Service Program. A program where offenders perform a specified number of hours of work or service as a basic, special, or enhanced condition of supervision. Programs include work-site agreements with non-profit agencies or organizations, and governmental entities. Offenders are placed at work-sites assignments where there is no foreseeable danger to the offender, work-site staff, clients or members of the public.
Each hour of community service work performed shall be equivalent to minimum wage per hour.
