016.06.6-1400. FIRE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

1401 WRITTEN APPROVAL - FIRE SAFETY
Programs located in organized areas or municipalities shall obtain from local fire safety officials annual written certification that the facility complies with local fire codes. If there are no applicable codes, or if the Division determines that such codes are not adequate to assure the safety of older or handicapped persons, the provisions of the National Fire Protection Association New Educational Occupancies (NFPA No. 10 Section 10-7 1985 edition) shall apply.
1402 EXITS
1402.1 The facility shall have a minimum of two (2) exits remote from each other.
1402.2 Exits shall be clearly marked with exit signs.
1402.3 Exits shall provide egress at ground level.
1402.4 Exit doors shall swing out.
1402.5 Each exit door shall be equipped with a device to sound an alarm when the door is opened.
1403 SMOKE DETECTORS/FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
1403.1 Each provider shall locate, install and maintain in operable condition a smoke detectors in each room of the ADHC.
1403.1.1 Smoke detectors shall be inspected monthly.
1403.1.2 Documentation of the monthly inspection shall be kept at the facility.
1403.2 Fire extinguishers, of the appropriate type as determined in consultation with local fire authorities shall be installed and maintained in operable condition.
1403.2.1 Fire extinguishers shall comply with NFPA 10 requirements.
1403.2.2 Fire extinguishers shall be inspected annually.
1403.2.3 Documentation of the annual inspection shall be kept at the facility.
1404 FIRE/DISASTER DRILLS
1404.1 Employees shall be trained in the rapid evacuation of the building.
1404.2 Participants and staff shall take part in quarterly fire drills.
1404.2.1 Documentation of the quarterly fire drills shall be kept at the facility.
1404.3. Tornado drills shall be held annually.
1404.3.1 Documentation of the annual tornado drill shall be kept at the facility.
