007.04.3-VII. Sewage.
The sewer system for all pools/spas shall comply with the following:
A. Capacity. The sewer system shall have sufficient capacity to serve the facility, including bathhouse, locker rooms, toilets, and related accommodations.
B. Connection. There shall be no direct physical connection between the sewer system and any drain from the pool/spa or circulation system. Any pool/spa deck drain, backwash or overflow from the circulation system, when discharged to the sewer system, storm drain, or other approve natural drainage course, shall be discharged through a suitable air gap so as to preclude the possibility of backflow of sewage or waste water into the pool/spa or piping system.
C. Individual Sewage Disposal Systems. The sanitary sewer servicing the pool and auxiliary facilities shall discharge to a public sewer system wherever possible and in accordance with applicable requirements. Where no such sewer is available the connection shall be made to a suitable waste water treatment system which has been designed and constructed and is operated and maintained in accordance with all the current Arkansas Department of Health Rules and Regulations Pertaining To Individual Sewage Disposal Systems, Designated Representatives and Installers. An on-site sewage disposal system permit shall be approved before pool construction can begin. Filter backwash and pool drainage shall not be discharged into an onsite sewage disposal system.
