016.15.5-460. REFERRALS
Currentness
1. The facility shall have written policy and procedures to facilitate referrals of the client to other external services while in residency at and following discharge from the facility. The policy shall also delineate how documentation will be made and whether such referrals were implemented.
2. The written policy and procedures shall delineate the conditions under which referrals are made. These conditions shall include at least the following:
a. examinations, assessments, or consultations that are outside the professional domain or expertise of the facility staff;
b. special treatment services;
c. assistance of other providers that can contribute to the client's well-being.
3. Written policy shall also delineate how documentation will be made on referrals and whether such referrals were implemented.
