235.03.3-001. Statement of Organization and Operations
The Board of Electrical Examiners of the State of Arkansas is a board of state government created by Act 870 of 1979 as amended, Ark. Code Ann. §§ 17-28-201 et seq. The licensing authority of the Board is found in Ark. Code Ann. §§ 17-28-201 et seq. and its code enforcement authority is found in Ark. Code Ann. §§ 20-31-101 et seq. The legislature has delegated to the Board the authority to establish statewide standards for the construction, installation, and maintenance of electrical facilities and the performance of electrical work. Additionally, the legislature has delegated to the Board the power to oversee electrician examination and licensure, conduct examinations of persons who apply for an electrician's license, grant licenses to qualifying applicants, and revoke or suspend a license for cause. The legislature has authorized the Secretary of the Department of Labor and Licensing or his or her designated employees to conduct inspections and to otherwise administer and enforce Ark. Code Ann. §§ 17-28-201 et seq. and Ark. Code Ann. §§ 20-31-101 et seq. From time to time, the Board promulgates rules.
